Short breaks are designed for people with a learning disability and their families, to give them a change from their daily routine and to give parents and carers a break from the demands of their role.
The primary aims of Short Breaks are:
To support positive outcomes for service users, by helping them to develop social skills, confidence, and independence and to improve their emotional and physical health.
To support positive outcomes for parents, by providing parents and carers with breaks from their caring responsibilities, so they are empowered to look after their own emotional and physical health and wellbeing and provide better and more sustainable care to other family members.
To support positive outcomes for whole families, including greater family cohesion and improved relationships.
