Surrey County Council has committed to achieve Net Zero Carbon for Council Operations by 2030, with the County of Surrey achieving Net Zero Carbon by 2050. In addition to achieving Net Zero Carbon, SCC has an ongoing commitment to improving the environmental sustainability within the county as part of its Greener Futures initiative.
We have incorporated these goals throughout the design of this project, and some of the ways these will be achieved are listed below:
Maximise on site renewable energy generation- Generating electricity using renewable energy technology such as solar photovoltaic (PV) panels and air source heat pumps will help further reduce carbon emissions and aid in achieving operational Net Zero Carbon.
Enhanced control of energy use - The use of smart controls helps staff to manage and monitor the energy used for lighting and heating, helping to reduce carbon emissions.
Sustainable efficiency use of water resources - A Sustainable Urban Drainage System (SuDs) has been integrated into the design; as well as conserving water this will help to prevent flooding.
